Black Leopards 1-0 Maritzburg United

21 November 2020

Black Leopards got their first victory and points of the DStv Premiership season courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United at the Thohoyandou stadium on Saturday.

Rodney Ramagalela scored the decisive goal of the game after 56 minutes as the defeat leaves the Team of Choice still winless and pointless after four outings this campaign.

Like their visitors, Lidoda Duvha also came into the contest having lost their opening three encounters this season.

It was also Leopards' first win under head coach Dylan Kerr, who seems to have the magic touch having taken over duties from Patrick Aussems just this week.

The first thing Kerr seems to have done on the training ground is shore up a leaky defence as the home team kept Maritzburg's dangerous forwards, José Alí Meza and Judas Mosemaedi, at bay.

Eric Tinkler brought on attacker Thabiso Kutumela after the hour in search of the equaliser but it was to no avail for the Team of Choice.

The visitors will now have to lick their wounds and go back to the drawing board in search of their first points of the season as they next face SuperSport United at the Harry Gwala stadium next Friday.

Leopards, meanwhile, will look to build on this performance ahead of their next fixture away to Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.
